PlayMUD.online

Getting started

First Run

Connect, choose charset, and start building your profile.

This page explains the basic workflow for using PlayMUD.online as it exists now.

Basic Steps

  1. Open the client and log in with an approved PlayMUD.online profile.
  2. Choose the MUD server from the top bar. The bundled BatMUD entries share the same settings scope.
  3. Choose the charset your selected MUD uses. UTF-8 is the default, but Latin variants are available from the top bar.
  4. Click Connect. The terminal connects to the selected MUD.
  5. Log in as usual. Password entry uses password mode when the telnet session disables local echo.
  6. Use Automation to edit triggers, aliases, Lua triggers, Lua aliases, and scripts in one folder tree.
  7. Settings are saved for the active profile and selected settings scope.

Profiles

The logged-in profile owns settings. Different MUD servers can use different settings scopes, while related entries such as BatMUD regular and secure telnet can share one scope.

See Profiles for persistence details.

See MUD Servers for server selection and scope behavior.

Useful First Setup

  • Create a target variable with a common enemy name.
  • Create an alias such as k with command kill $1.
  • Create a trigger that highlights important output lines.
  • Create folders in Automation to keep related items together.
  • Open the Activity tab while testing triggers.
